Two College Football Picks for Saturday 9/27/2025
I got my first winning week here on The Bet Life,
spearheaded by a 3-0 sweep last Saturday in college football for +$91.95. I’m
doing some bookkeeping – which I forewarn readers I am absolutely terrible at;
I was an English major in college for a reason – and I will share the overall numbers for my picks this season soon. Suffice
it to say for now, I’m out of the red with my picks.
I’ve been working on writing a more thorough introduction
to this blog than I offered in the first post, and I want to spell out my “scale”
for making bets. In the meantime, I wanted to mention that this week I saw a
post from Dave Portnoy, the pizza review guy, Bar Stool creator, and now a member
of Fox’s college football pre-game show, displaying a bet ticket
for $110,000 on the 49ers-Cardinals game, which he lost. I’d still be curled up in a ball
somewhere if I lost a bet like that. Of course, I don’t have to worry about it,
since I don’t have enough money to make a bet like that.
I’m not ripping Portnoy. Hell, I want to be able to make
that type of bet. My only point is that everybody has their scale. I fully
realize my picks have been just about as small as they can be so far. I
generally look to keep wagers small early in the season – any season. No one
knows anything early on. If you like a pick I offer, obviously, adjust the
amount accordingly to your scale.
All of that said, I love two games in college football on
Saturday, and I’m “raising the bar” a bit. I have the biggest cushion / bank
roll I’ve ever had. So, I can take a shot. And, it’s not because I won last
week or that I saw Portnoy’s play. It’s because I believe that when you see a
game you love, you gotta pound it.
Here are my picks:
Oregon +3.5 (-110)
at Penn State for $100 to win $91
Alabama +3 (-109) at Georgia for $50 to win
$46
Two road ‘dogs that are barking – I hope! The Oregon pick for $100
is pretty much a “max” bet for me over the years, though I’m trying to increase
the amount that I call a big play. I’ve gone with bigger amounts at times,
though rarely, if ever, on a blog or
this early in the season. My $50 pick on Alabama isn’t quite as rare, but it’s generally
a “step up” from most picks.
In both games, I just think the road teams have more
explosive offenses than the home teams. Penn State let Villanova hang
around in the first half a couple weeks ago, and I’m hearing good things about Alabama’s
young quarterback.
I may have more picks in college football later or tomorrow, but I wanted to get these posted. Follow @BetLifeBlog on X and our brand new Facebook page for potential additional picks and to give us your thoughts!
