2025 World Series Pick
Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. I only dabbled in betting baseball earlier this season, and have gone 0-2 for -$10 on the blog with two parlay picks in the post-season. So, at least you’ve been warned. Here’s my pick for the 2025 World Series winner:
Spread - Series Outcome: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-125) at Toronto Blue Jays for $50 to win $40 (Best of 7 games)
I actually tried to confirm the obvious with my sportsbooks “support”
chat that this means that the Dodgers have to win the series by 2 games,
not that they needed to win in 5 games. I don’t know why that thought creeped
into my head. Sadly, the guy wouldn’t confirm! I thought it would be a quick thing.
Anyway, the words “Spread – Series Outcome” on the ticket before I made the
pick official gave me confidence that Los Angeles just needs to win by 2.
The Dodgers have been cruising through the Major League Baseball playoffs,
going 9-1, after finishing the regular season on an 8-2 run in their final 10
games, including a 5-game winning streak to end the season. They only gave up 1
run a game in sweeping the Brewers 4-0, and except for one game where the
Phillies lit ‘em up for 8, LA only gave up 7 runs in the other 3 games of the
NLDS. But they did give a total of 9 runs despite sweeping two Wild Card games against
the Reds.
The Blue Jays certainly aren’t a pushover. They had to go 7 games
to beat the Mariners after beating the Yankees in 4. They actually won 1 more
game (94) than the Dodgers in the regular season, but finished just 5-5 in
games that had some meaning since they only tied New York record-wise, winning
the division on a tie-breaker.
The Dodgers are about -220 to win the World Series, which
just didn’t make sense to bet in my opinion. So, I took a shot giving up 1.5
games. My biggest concern right now is the number of days the Dodgers have been
off. But I’m thinking that they can regain their groove pretty quickly. This is
a bit of a stretch at $50 on baseball, but I’m doing OK and it is the World Series.
I’m going with the hot team . . . and my gut.
